Update! Deadline for EvalPLC applications extended to November 8th!

The Employment and Training Administration (ETA), Office of Policy Development and Research is convening an interactive technical assistance forum, Evaluation Peer Learning Cohort (EvalPLC), to provide states with an opportunity to explore, design, and plan for evaluation with the goal of expanding or enhancing the state’s evaluation capacity.  **The application deadline has been extended by one week - Apply below by November 8th!

J-PAL North America Calls for State and Local Innovation Competition Proposals

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) North America recently announced the fifth round of the State and Local Innovation Competition. The competition supports US state and local governments in using rigorous research to generate new and applicable lessons about which policies and programs work, which work best, and why.

Enroll now in J-PAL 101x: Evaluating Social Programs

J-PAL’s Evaluating Social Programs course is open until May 27, 2021. This social impact course is designed for people from a variety of entities including international development organizations, foundations, governments, and non-governmental organizations. Workforce system program managers, researchers, and others may build organizational evaluation capacity and learn to use randomized evaluations to measure program impacts by enrolling in this free and self-placed course.

New Funding Opportunity To Help Researchers Develop Rigorous Evidence

WorkRise, the Urban Institute’s new research-to-action network for jobs, workers, and mobility, is offering up to $2 million for research on pilot and existing programs, policies, and practices.  The aim of the research is to rapidly develop rigorous evidence to inform and drive immediate economic relief to struggling workers and to create pathways for long-term economic security and upward mobility.

State workforce agencies are invited to apply to an applied data analytics training program!

Apply to a new Applied Data Analytics training class studying unemployment to reemployment trajectories by November 15 and attend an informational webinar on October 21, 2020 to learn more. The Coleridge Institute is delighted to announce that the Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration is facilitating Applied Data Analytics training for state teams. The training is developed with the Illinois Department of Employment Security and NASWA.

The 2021 Evaluation Peer Learning Cohort Applications are due August 31, 2021!

The Evaluation Peer Learning Cohort (EvalPLC) application for 2021-2022 is now available. State teams have until August 31, 2021, to submit their online application for this interactive technical assistance opportunity. The 2021 EvalPLC will include six state teams comprised of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program lead and representatives from other WIOA core programs.

The Coleridge Initiative Announces a New Challenge to Invest in Data and Evidence-Based Policy

The Coleridge Initiative set “a goal to create an innovation sandbox” for federal, state, and local agencies to use data across agency lines, address program questions, and generate innovative ideas.  A new $5 Million funding opportunity is available “to further collaboration of state agencies…and their partner organizations” and that leads to the development of innovative products.
